Designed from the ground up with meticulous attention to detail, this “new” 10K lathe has the traditional South Bend lines as well as many modern innovations. Some of its well thought-out features include a 1150 RPM 1 HP motor, D1-3 camlock spindle, serpentine multi-groove belt drive system with a Gates® belt, T-slotted cross slide, tailstock barrel with 3.149″ travel, inch and metric threading ability and much, much more. South Bend’s Signature three v-way bed is hardened and precision ground, and the 28″ between centers handles most jobs with ease. A very popular lathe coveted by small shops!

Our 16-speed TURN-X® Gearhead Lathes are solidly constructed to handle years of demanding industrial production and manufacturing tasks—a South Bend hallmark. These lathes feature a signature hardened and ground South Bend three V-way bed made with Meehanite® castings, Japanese spindle bearings, Allen-Bradley® controls, a universal quick-change gearbox, tailstock with 6″ of barrel travel, and an adjustable feed stop system. Standard equipment includes 3-jaw and 4-jaw chucks, steady and follow rests, a face-plate, 4-way tool post, micrometer carriage stop, chuck guard with microswitch shut-off, hardened and ground headstock gears, safety foot brake, work lamp, one-shot lubrication system, and complete coolant system.

Built in the South Bend tradition for speed, accuracy, and absolute high quality, our Heavy 13® Lathes feature easy-to-use spindle speed controls, conveniently-located control panel, flood coolant system, micrometer stop, feed clutch rod, safety foot brake, safety chuck guard with shut-off microswitch, and a fully-enclosed quick-change gearbox. Also featured on these precision lathes are Japanese spindle bearings, Allen-Bradley® controls, precision hardened and ground gears, and the signature South Bend three V-way bed made with Meehanite® castings. Includes chucks and other accessories to quickly get you up and running.

Our EVS (Electronic Variable Speed) TURN-NADO® lathes combine modern electronics with historic South Bend lineage to offer some of the finest toolroom lathes money can buy—period! EVS spindle speed allows the operator to “dial” the perfect cutting speed, making it much easier to achieve exacting tolerances and super finishes on any job. Built true to the South Bend standards for quality and precision, these machines are equipped with some of the nicest features in the industry—signature hardened and ground South Bend three V-way bed made with Meehanite® castings, German spindle bearings, factory-installed Fagor DRO, massive tailstock with 6.5″ of barrel travel, and a carriage feed clutch for stopping automatic feed at pre-set positions. Standard equipment includes 3-jaw and 4-jaw chucks, steady and follow rests, a faceplate, 4-way tool post, chuck guard with microswitch shut-off, safety foot brake, work light, coolant system, and micrometer stop. TURN-NADO EVS Series lathes are offered in models with 18″ or 21″ of swing-over-bed and available in lengths of 60″, 80″ 0r 120″ between centers.
